Instructor:  Chef Matthew Johnson comes to the mid-south area via Detroit, Michigan.  Born and raised in the Detroit and metro area, Chef Johnson moved to Jonesboro Arkansas in 1995.  After starting college with aspirations of success in the business field and many other jobs along the way, it was in 2004 when Chef Johnson finally found where his real passion lies.  It was at this time he decided to follow his dream of becoming a professional cook.   Training under 3 different executive chefs gave him the opportunity and time to learn and refine his skills in classic French and European culinary techniques.   In 2007 Chef Johnson accepted the position of Executive Chef at the Jonesboro Country Club.  Chef Johnson joined the Greater Memphis chapter of the American Culinary Federation ( ACF)  in early 2011 and is currently pursuing his Certified Executive Chef  (CEC) designation.
