Real World Barriers & Strategies for Evidence-based Practice Implementation

 When:
National Webinar: Thursday, June 9, 2016, from 3:00 to 4:30 pm EDT
Learning Exchange: Friday, June 17, 2016, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm EDT

What:  The Illinois Birth to Three (IB3) Waiver is designed to flexibly use Title IV-E funds in order to provide one of two evidence-based and developmentally informed interventions  (Child-Parent Psychotherapy or Nurturing Parent Program) to targeted children and caregivers in an effort to improve attachment, reduce trauma symptoms, prevent foster care re-entry, improve child well-being, and increase permanency for children in out-of-home placement. The IB3 experience highlights some of the complexities of tailoring and implementing interventions within the context of a large child welfare agency and its community partners.

This webinar will focus on the workforce, agency and systemic strategies that can enhance or deter success when trying to incorporate evidence-based interventions into child welfare practice.  This session will feature the frank discussion of implementation activities and lessons learned, providing participants with the opportunity to
  • Explore and utilize an implementation science framework for planning the identification, selection, and utilization of evidence based interventions;
  • Develop a clear understanding of the needed supports for implementation including and beyond professional training to achieve successful outcomes;
  • Clarify common organizational barriers inherent in bureaucratic organizations that can diminish positive outcomes; and,
  • Identify adaptive strategies for problem-solving to achieve desired systems change outcomes.

WhoPresenters include Cynthia Tate, PhD, Senior Deputy Director, Division of Program, Practice, & Research, at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), & Kimberly Mann, PhD, LCSW, Project Director for IB3, Title IV-E Waiver, and Associate Professor, UIUC School of Social Work.  For more information, please explore our Presenter Bios.
