August 12 - Central Region - Human Resources and Risk Assessment Training

WIPFLi will present training on Human Resource Management and Risk Assessments to help agencies meet the CSBG Performance Standards.

HR Management Learning Objectives:

1.    Review category seven, Human Resource Management, of the new CSBG Organizational Standards for expectations of compliance and best practice throughout your agency’s HR system.

2.    Discuss effective and efficient methods for evaluating and updating your HR Policies and Procedures to meet the standards and deliver high-quality services.

3.    Understand and incorporate talent development practices in your agency to help ensure performance and accountability at all levels.

 HR Management  Session Description:

In this session we will present and discuss the importance of an effective HR policies and procedures manual – including an employee handbook – as a communication tool and reference resource for managers and employees. We will discuss a practical approach for reviewing and updating your manual that enables you to remain engaged in the day-to-day operational activities of the organization. We will help ensure understanding of all nine organizational standards in the human resource management category, and ensure enough time for interaction and questions from all participants.

Risk Assessment Learning Objectives:

1.    Review Standard 4.6 in the Organizational Leadership category, comprehensive risk assessment, for expectations of compliance and best practice to minimize agency-wide risks.
2.    Explain enterprise risk management, including what it is, why CAAs should do it, and how to effectively and efficiently assess for risks across the organization.
3.    Understand and articulate the benefits and success factors of an enterprise risk assessment, and what you can do to start right away.

Risk Assessment Session Description:

This session introduces participants to a practical, organized model for identifying, classifying, prioritizing, and managing risks that grant-funded organizations face. The model presented is easily customized for your organization, but it is thorough in its approach to managing risks. In addition to explaining how the risk management process works, attendees will also learn who should participate in the process and how to integrate the risk management function into the day-to-day operations of your organization. After attending this session, attendees will be able to apply a successful risk management model to their own organization.
