Wilderness Survival, Tracking, and Awareness
Weekend Workshop

Earth Skills Teacher Training

How to teach and guide students in wilderness survival, nature awareness, wildlife tracking, and land stewardship.

This training is for those who are interested in facilitating youth in reconnecting to nature. Tapping into skills and philosophy gathered over 25 years of wilderness training and teaching, Founder of 4 Elements Earth Education Rick Berry will share the essentials of Tracking and Awareness, Survival Skills, and 'Coyote' Teaching.

Instruction includes practical safety, giving thanks, the caretaker's heart, and program organization; presentations of how to teach youth the skills of fire making, shelter building, cordage, throwing sticks, the figure-four trap, water purification, and open fire cooking; and awareness-based use of animal forms, concentric ring studies, bird language, tracking, and lost-proofing.

In addition, Rick will offer historical background, what it means to "surrender to the student" and the art of spontaneous teaching. Calling upon his years with Tom Brown Jr., Gary Morris, Jon Young, Juan Villarreal, Greyson Coney, and the Council of 13 International Grandmothers, Rick will teach experientially and through games and stories. He will also show you how to integrate the teachings into your everyday life. At the conclusion you will receive a detailed list of various usable skills along with a Wilderness Instructor Training Certificate.

This Training with be held at the Wolf Connection Ranch, with Teo Alfero, founder of the Wolf Connection educational program that works to connect wolves with people. A special part of this training is that we will be in the wolves' presence and plan to spend some time at the end of the training with the Wolves.
