Meet Our Hosts
SeniorCorp

Seniorcorp was established in 2003 to address the need in the community for compassionate, quality in-home care services for the aging population.  Dedicated to "changing the way America ages," Seniorcorp offers seniors the ability to remain in their homes as they age, where they can still feel comfortable, safe, and happy. Seniorcorp companions are well-trained to provide assisted living services such as light housekeeping, laundry, organizing mail, entertainment, transportation, personal care, meal planning, and more — all done with a smile, love, and support.

In 2007, Seniorcorp started its own training school and scholarship program, helping many talented individuals learn to be caregivers and achieve certification as Personal Care attendants.

Seniorcorp currently has over 300 employees in Southeastern Virginia and is in the process of developing new services and technologies that will help families nationwide. Seniorcorp believes in recognizing its employees for the dedication and hard work they provide to our seniors and their families. That is why Seniorcorp has established a Pay for Performance bonus program that rewards excellence and promotes continued success.  Our employees also benefit from 100% company-paid life insurance. These benefits have helped to build an incredibly stable workforce with turnover less than a third of the national average.

Seniorcorp has been featured numerous times on local and national television, including the major networks and the Fox Family Channel.  Tom also co-hosts a radio show about caring for seniors on talk radio stations in Virginia.

There's no better way to get insights into how you can grow your business and get ready for the future than to spend this day with the owners and managers inside one of America's leading private duty home care businesses.

You'll get to meet the team, and look over the shoulders of their scheduling coordinators and client service coordinators.

Take a few moments to visit the website of SeniorCorp to get a clearer picture of the company you will be visiting during the Private Duty Field Trip.

Meet the Team

Your field trip experience will be hosted by an amazing team of people who are excited to share with you exactly how they run their business.

Tom Knox founded Seniorcorp when he recognized that a gap in care services for the elderly existed, after his experience with his own aging grandparents. His paternal grandmother, Edith, suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and was in and out of assisting living, forcing his grandparents to spend all of their resources to qualify for Medicaid. Tom's maternal grandmother, Mae, was neglected in a convalescent center, left alone after a fall that caused a minor heart attack. She had been pushing her call button to get assistance, and when no one responded, she tried to get up herself and fell to the floor.  Tom's aunt happened to find her on the floor during a random visit. The family brought Mae home but she was never the same, leaving Tom's mother in the extremely stressful position of moving from New Jersey to Florida to care for Mae, unassisted, 24 hours a day for four months.  The stress of managing Mae's round the clock care, multiple physicians, and financial matters nearly led her to an emotional breakdown.

Tom began researching the needs of the booming senior population and realized that, like his family, many, in spite of their and their family's financial resources, could not get anyone to answer their questions, provide timely or coordinated medical services, give clarity on insurance and legal issues, fight for their rights, or even protect themselves from negligence and fraud.  His experience living in Japan for three years where elders continued to remain at home with the support of family convinced him that there was a better way. The idea of a revolutionary, compassionate business to change the way America ages – Seniorcorp - was born.

Seniorcorp has brought fresh solutions to boomers, seniors, and their families. Seniorcorp has been an answer to handling the coming “Agewave.” It is the new solution for Assisted Living At Home and consumer-directed care that thousands of families can depend on now and in the future.

The Seniorcorp Difference

We are committed to hiring only the best people to serve as companions and caregivers for our clients.

Seniorcorp only hires employees who love working with seniors and who we would be proud to send to our own families.

We do a thorough screening of potential employees, which includes five background checks, three reference checks, a personality test, drug test, and two interviews.

All of our employees are licensed, bonded, and insured.

Seniorcorp invests in its employees by offering a Pay for Performance bonus program to recognize outstanding performance.  Our comprehensive performance evaluations make certain employees constantly receive feedback to ensure the best care is provided.

Seniorcorp provides its employees opportunities for continued education with a 40-hour training program.

  • 24-hour client assistance line.
  • Experts on call to assist with any long-term care question.

Our Field Trip Hotel

We have arranged for a group rate of $152.00 per night at the Hilton Garden Inn Virginia Beach (Town Center).  The group rate is only available until August 26th or until the block is full, whichever comes first.  You will receive additional reservation information in your event confirmation email.  We recommend that you make your hotel reservation soon, as it is a busy travel season in Virginia Beach and we want to make sure you can get your room in our room block.

A Once-in-a-lifetime Experience

This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  There is no other opportunity to spend a couple of days in Virginia Beach and be able to explore a highly successful private duty home care company, pick the brains of the owners and management team, and maybe have time to relax and enjoy a few days of vacation.
