Resource Works communicates with British Columbians about the importance of the province's resource sectors to their personal well-being.
It demonstrates how responsible development of British Columbia's resources creates jobs and incomes throughout the province, both directly and indirectly, while maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
And Resource Works explores the long-term economic future of British Columbia as a place that depends on the responsible development, extraction and transportation of the province's resources.
STEWART MUIR - Bio
Stewart is a change leader with a crisp vision for interdisciplinary solutions across a vast range of problems facing society, government and business. He created the Resource Works Society in Vancouver, B.C. to catalyze better dialogue on the environment and the economy. The project, launched in 2014, has been publicly praised by leaders such as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and B.C Premier Christy Clark. He was lead writer of the official report of the 2011 Stanley Cup Riot Review and his 13,000-word serial report “Merciful Injustice: The Killing of Yoshiyuki Uno”, which exposed a Vancouver race incident, debuted on the front page of The Vancouver Sun and ran over six consecutive days in 2013. As a business transformation expert, Stewart led culture-change elements of a nation-wide systems implementation for the CanWest publishing group, later founding, as managing director, Pagemasters North America in Toronto to reimagine the newsroom workflows of two of Canada’s largest newspapers, The Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star, and market the efficiency model to large organizations in the United States newspaper industry. He was deputy managing editor (and previously business editor and national editor) of The Vancouver Sun until 2009, having previously founded Different Drum magazine in Australia and held leadership roles at publications in his native Alberta and Hong Kong. His recent accomplishments at Resource Works reflect his longstanding interest in the big challenges facing society’s use of energy and resources. As a historian with degrees from Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia, Stewart later undertook postgraduate studies in global environmental change and economic botany as a NUFFIC Fellow at Leiden University in The Netherlands. He is a past two-term director of The Nature Trust of British Columbia, which takes a collaborative approach to strengthening biodiversity across the province with its portfolio of over 400 properties.

Bio: Chris Montgomery currently serves as the Manager, Exploration and Production Communications and Outreach for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. Prior to joining CAPP, Chris spent his career in Ottawa providing advice to senior Cabinet Ministers, and serving as a political organizer.
