Sensory Play Group for BUDS kids ages 3 - 8 and siblingsWednesdays, February 5th - April 9th, 6:15 - 7 pmSensory Solutions, LLC (5045 Fruitville Road, Ste. 145, Sarasota)Contact: jen@sensorysolutionsllc.com or call 941-377-9361 Description: This sensory play group is designed to provide a unique blend of therapeutic sensorimotor activities intended to enhance the natural developmental process. Successful sensory integration requires that we receive and interpret sensory information accurately, combine the information from different senses to create a complete picture, decide on an appropriate response and execute that response. Typically, integration of sensory information is automated however when the brain is unable to use that information in an organized and effective way, the result is poor sensory processing. Effective sensory processing is essential for many everyday functions including academic skills, attention, balance, bilateral coordination, body awareness, motor skills, postural stability, self-esteem, speech and language skills, self-regulation, social skills and more. Occupational therapists use movement experiences in playful, meaningful and natural ways to improve sensory processing skills (traditionally called sensory integration therapy). Parents actively participate in the classes, which provides a rich parent/child experience. Finally, the group setting allows for a natural and successful social experience for each child that lays a foundation for healthy self-esteem and interpersonal relationships. Classes are run by occupational therapists and ESE (exceptional student education) teachers.
