Need help with preparation of clergy or church tax returns? The United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana is once again hosting tax seminars for clergy and church staff or laity participating in the financial management of the church.

Berneking Rev. Nate Berneking is the presenter for both sessions of the seminars. He is Director of Finance and Administrative Ministries for the Missouri Annual Conference. He attended seminary at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology a few years after his work as an attorney in corporate law. He served as pastor in St. Louis and Chesterfield, Mo., before joining the staff of the Missouri Annual Conference. Berneking is currently writing a book on clergy finance slated to be published this year. 

Session 1: Income Taxes for Clergy, 9:00 a.m. - 12 Noon will cover “how to” methods for clergy preparing his or her income tax return and all of the relevant features in the IRS tax code specific to clergy. Rev. Berneking will also highlight new provisions and tax code changes. Especially for ministers!

Session 2: Financial & Legal Issues for Churches, 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. explores church financial issues and legal implications. Rev. Berneking will discuss basic church finance and accounting including payroll administration, forms, documents and procedures related to the financial management of churches and related ministries such as pre-schools, parents-day-out, etc. 

Fees:  $30 per session. ($45 per session if registering after 2/24/17)
This fee includes all materials, including the books, Zondervan 2017: Minister’s Tax & Financial Guide for 2016 Tax Returns for Session 1 and Zondervan 2017: Church and Nonprofit Tax & Financial Guide for 2016 Tax Returns for Session 2.

This program is approved for .6 CEU credits by the Board of Ordained Ministry. 

Advance registration is recommended to ensure materials for attendees. If registering more than one person, please include how many for each session, as well as each participant's name.
