Brunch with Brilliants Series:
"Women at Work in Las Vegas"
featuring Joanne Goodwin
Explore the growth of Las Vegas that succeeded because of the shifting boundaries of women’semployment in the postwar decades. With narratives drawn from the Las Vegas Women Oral History Project and the Nevada Women’s Archive at Lied Library—which Goodwin was instrumental in developing—she counters clichéd pictures of women and work in our famed resort city with their real-life strategies for economic survival and success, and resistance of pre-assigned roles. Enjoy this interesting program!
Goodwin's work has been featured in the PBS collaboration, MAKERS: Women in Nevada History an extension of extension of the national, critically-acclaimed PBS documentary “MAKERS: Women Who Make America” which told the story of the modern women’s movement.
