Writer, educator, editor, and personal historian, Joanne D. Gilbert, M. Ed. was profoundly influenced by the old family photos and stories of beloved family members murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust. Her determination to honor and preserve these stories resulted in her learning about the true stories of both Jewish and Gentile female resistance, unrecognized young women who not only defied the Nazis, but survived. She spent four years finding, interviewing, and writing about these extraordinary women. The result is a series of books, the first of which is “WOMEN OF VALOR: Polish Resistance to the Third Reich.”
