This is the first ever build your own cardboard Can-Yak contest, but it is sure to prove to be both challenging and FUN! Are you ready?
WHAT TO DO and WHAT ARE THE RULES:
- First! You must register your team.. We are limiting the first year to a maximum of 10 teams—so be sure to sign up now!
- Entry fee is $20 per team.
- Each team may consist of up to 4 people to help build your boat.
- Boat must be built on site between 1-3PM using only the
materials that will be supplied.. (Cardboard, duct tape, milk jugs, garbage bags, box cutters, and roll of butcher twine).
- There is no limit to the number of people in a boat, but at least one person age 18+ is required to paddle your boat down past a buoy and back. Race time starts at 3:30PM. Winner will be
determined by time.
- All persons in boat/s must wear a PFD (personal floatation device) and sign a waiver.
- You may bring your own paddle/s and life jackets, otherwise they will available for a nominal fee.
- Participants are allowed to “splash” water into each others boats, but any type of physical contact with each other or
another boat is prohibited. ie. No pushing, shoving, or tipping another boat by use of force.
