“Time Equals Money” has a goal of providing three learning points:

  • A description of what is Business Interruption, what is Extra Expense, and what are Expenses to reduce loss.
  • Identify the insurable forms of Business Interruption, and
  • Identify and quantify the key elements of a Business Interruption Worksheet and how to put the concepts all together.

The speaker will identify the process from a property underwriting and then a claims handling perspective. The presentation will include Business Interruption worksheet handouts which will act as learning tools and takeaways for the presentation participants. It is a presentation designed for insurance underwriters, agents and brokers and risk management personnel.

Ross Norstrom, Divisional Vice President in the Property and Inland Marine Division of Great American Insurance Company, has more than 30 years of progressive professional experience in insurance carrier and brokerage firm positions.  His unit, Product Management, is largely responsible for the underwriting direction of the division including new products, product and procedure implementation, underwriting audits, and other related issues. Ross has previously served as a Managing Director of Mesirow Insurance Services, was a team leader in the Property Syndication department for AON Risk Services, the central U.S. property manager for AIG WorldSource in Chicago, and the international and home office property director for RLI Corporation in both Peoria and Chicago.

Ross holds Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe)  designations. He is an associate member of Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS). Ross is a graduate of Michigan Technological University with a bachelor of science degree in Mining and Mineral engineering.
