Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Local Championship Qualifier?
The Local Championship Qualifier is one of three annual LPGA Amateurs national events played on a local level and is the first stage qualifier of the LPGA Amateurs Championship.  Members of all skill levels can compete in this one-day tournament of 18-holes of individual stroke play or as a scramble team.  The low gross and the low net score of each flight of the stroke play division and two low net scramble teams will advance to the semi-finals in Naples.
How does the individual stroke play division work?
How does the scramble division work?
Am I qualified to play?
It's easy to qualify!  Players must be a member in good standing of the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of LPGA Amateurs and have a USGA handicap index and the equivalent of at least two 18 hole rounds posted in 2019.  It just doesn't get much easier that that!
What happens if I win the Local Championship Qualifier?
The low net and gross winners of each flight of the stroke play division and two low net scramble teams advance to the next level of competition called the Sectional Championship Qualifiers.  This year the Sectionals will be held at Hammock Bay in Naples on June 15. The Sectional Championship Qualifiers are the same format as the Local Qualifier.  The low gross and low net score of each flight of the individual stroke play division and the low net scramble team advance to the Championship finals.

OMG - what happens if I win the Sectional Championship?
Winners of the Sectional Championships will advance to the finals being played at the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage California on October 11-12. If a player cannot attend the finals, she can "Decline To Advance" and the runner up will go.
How much does the Local Championship Qualifier cost?
The cost for this year's Local Championship Qualifier is $85 and that includes EVERYTHING:
  • All golf fees at the spectacular Jacaranda Golf Club
  • Range Balls
  • Delicious Buffet Dinner
  • Trophies
I would love to play but I don't know the new rules very well:
There will be a rules clinic and practice round on May 19th at Jacaranda's 19th hole.  The rules clinic is at 11am.  The practice round starts at 1.
Did I hear that there is an on-line auction again this year?
Yes, the LPGA Amateurs members only online auction will help our chapter raise money to subsidize this Local Championship Qualifier expenses making it affordable for all our members to participate. The best news is that you can bid on a foursome at a great course or other great items for a fraction of their regular price!  Do you have an awesome item that isn't a good fit for you but would be for someone else? Please consider donating it to your chapter to be put in the auction.

Watch your in-box for details on the auction!
