Richard Kagey has been in the performing arts business his entire life as a performer, designer, director, artist-in-residence, press agent, advertising manager, university professor, education director, general manager and board member. His work has taken him from Broadway - Evita, The Gin Game, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along; to popular entertainment - Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus and Disney on Ice; to opera - San Francisco’s Merola program, The Atlanta Opera, Fort Worth Opera; to regional repertory theatres - Cumberland Theatre, Huntington Playhouse, University Campuses, University of Kentucky, Shenandoah University, Frostburg State University, Skidmore, the Seagle Music Colony, COT at the Fort Worth Opera, and the Epic Artists at Performance Santa Fe.
During his career, Richard has designed and/or directed over 300 productions including: Don Giovanni, Of Mice and Men, Ariadne auf Naxos, The Mikado, Les Miserables, Most Happy Fella, The Taming of the Shrew, and You Can’t Take It With You. He has also mentored many students who have successful careers in the business not just as performers, but also as designers, technicians, managers, directors and administrators. Over the years, his work has varied but his mission remains constant live performance matters! Currently, Richard resides in Atlanta with his family continuing to direct and design as director of productions at the Seagle Music Colony; the oldest opera training program in the US.
The cost of the luncheon is $32. Please note that reservations are required for this event and must be received by January 6.
