Christopher Lehman, Founding Director of The Educator Collaborative and author of popular profession titles including, Falling In Love with Close Reading and Energize Research Reading and Writing, will join us on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 for a workshop that will leave you feeling confident to support students as they develop big ideas about narratives, nonfiction texts, and media. Close Reading can raise energy and inspire deep thinking--or it can be a tedious bore! It all depends on how we approach it. Spend an engaging and thought-provoking day learning practical methods for teaching the skills of deep analytical reading in ways that enchant students and help them become independent with these skills.

PARTICPANTS WILL:

• Reflect on practices already in place
• Study methods of facilitating thoughtful work with texts, media and life
• Learn strategies to make student learning visible and provide opportunities for authentic assessment
• Practice using structures to increase independent close reading habits in all genres
