How About Some A3 Problem Solving?

 We tend to address plant-floor problems in superficial ways.  We work around a problem to address the need of the day, feeling good about our actions, and then move on to another task.  When important issues arise, enlightened leaders will seek to ensure root causes are exposed and addressed.  Otherwise, the root causes remain lurking in the background, causing similar problems again and again.  A3 is a simple problem-solving methodology, successfully used at many printing companies, that helps employees identify root causes of problems and implement effective counter measures. 

 Our Presenter: Joe Eudy...Impact Safety

A long-time partner with PIA Mid America, Joe was an employee of the association in the early 2000's, then started his own consulting practice serving our members in 2005.  Joe helps members with improvement projects, quality systems, safety, environmental and sustainablility programs.  He began his career in paper mills, then moved to a career in printing, where he has served as a trainer, quality manager, startup and special projects manager, along with holding several  manufacturing management positions.   He is active with the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC). He earned a BS in Engineering from Auburn University.
