Empty Bowls 2014 - Youth United Way

UPDATE:
You may have heard about the Stillwater Area High School Boy's Hockey team making it to the State Tournament for the first time ever!  We are so proud and excited for the team and we wish them the best of luck.  Unfortunately their first game in the tournament is scheduled for Thursday at 6pm.

In order to accomodate the registrants that want to attend both events (the hockey game and Empty Bowls) we are opening the Empty Bowls event two hours early.  Please feel free to drop by at anytime between 3-7pm this Thursday for your soup dinner and choice of pottery.

We also plan to have the game playing live on TVs at the event.  Invite your friends and watch the game together with us on Thursday, all while supporting your local Youth United Way.

Thank you for your understanding!  Go Ponies!

Youth United Way (a group of 8-12 grade students) has been preparing for the 12th annual Empty Bowls for months.  Now they need you to support their efforts!

Empty Bowls will be held at Stillwater Area High School again this year from 3-7pm. The event consists of a simple meal of soup and bread, donated by restaurants in the community. This simple meal is meant to raise awareness and represent the meals some of our struggling community members have each night.

The event also features a silent auction and pottery bowls from local artists who donated their hard work to help this group raise awareness of the struggling youth in our community. The "empty" bowls go home with guests as a reminder of hunger within our community, and 100% of the proceeds go towards supporting local hunger programs, youth programs, and food shelves.

Adult ticket (with pottery bowl)  |  $20
Student ticket (with pottery bowl)  |  $10
Adult ticket (without pottery bowl)  |  $10
Student & Children tickets (without pottery bowl)  |  $5

Last year, with the help of the community, Youth United Way was able to raise and allocate $5,000 to help youth right here in the area.  The following agencies/programs were awarded part of those funds.
  • FamilyMeans - Youth Mental Health First Aid
  • Valley Outreach - Snack Pack Program
  • Canvas Health - Homeless Youth Outreach Program
  • Valley Outreach - Food Shelf
  • Young Life - YoungLives
  • Youth Advantage - Youth Equipment Provision Program
  • Youth Service Bureau - Girl Talk
Contact the Youth United Way group with any questions regarding Empty Bowls and/or the allocation process they use to distribute the funds they raise each year.
