It’s time to face your destiny! Throughout the school year, you’ve been learning all the moves to capture your opponent’s royal court. Wits, strategy, skill, and sheer determination will be showcased, so bring your Checkmate game!
Which Path Will You Take?
Rated Section*
- For advanced and competitive players
- Paired by rating
- Time clocks and notation required
- Earn a nationally recognized rating
- Must be a member or join the United States Chess Federation (USCF)
* If you’re not a current USCF member, but want to play in the Rated Section, please apply for USCF membership in the application. Rated Section is subject to change.
Unrated Section- For beginning players new to the game or who play just for fun
- Grouped by grade level or similar grade cluster
- No pressure of time clocks or rating
- Atmosphere is encouraging and supportive

- The tournament is open to all STAR and non-STAR players in grades K-6 (must be 12 and under by the event)
