Crowdfunding

With panel: Judith Shaw, Maine Office of Securities, Don Gooding, MCED, Greg Fryer, Verrill Dana and John Galley of Orion Sight (#1 highest funded Kickstarter campaign in Maine)

Crowdfunding is the most important development in entrepreneur financing in the 21st century.  It’s not just for movies or gadgets any more. There are many hundreds of crowdfunding platforms, a spate of new SEC and state of Maine regulations, and thousands of happy (as well as frustrated) entrepreneurs, artists, students, and non-profits. The time to get smart about crowdfunding is now! Our panel will give an overview, legal perspective, and insight from successful Maine crowdfunders. Crowdfunding angel investing is now legal, mass market crowdfunding for equity should be legal nationally by the end of 2014, and here in Maine we will have some of the most entrepreneur-friendly options in the country!
