 Foundations in Personal Finance
Summer Teacher Training

Foundations in Personal Finance is a three-day intensive personal finance course developed by the National Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. The training will be held August 8 - 10 at Bangor Savings Bank in Augusta, Maine.

The training focuses on improving overall financial knowledge, and will include opportunities to discuss/explore teaching strategies. Content areas include: Global Economics and Personal Finance, Spending and Financial Planning, Saving and Investing, Enhancing Your Earning Capacity, Financial Services, Identity Fraud, Managing Credit and Debt, Risk Management and Insurance. National and statewide experts will be on hand to conduct the training.
Tentative Schedule
Please note that the following schedule is subject to minor adjustments.  Please allow an hour or so of flexibility when making your plans.

Tuesday, August 8: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Breakfast and registration: 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Cocktail hour and networking, followed by dinner, will begin at 6:00 p.m.
 
Wednesday, August 9: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Cocktail hour and networking, followed by dinner, will begin at 6:30 p.m.
 
Thursday, August 10:  8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.

This is a FREE event for teachers, fully sponsored by our partners and Board. All hotel, food, facility, and training costs are covered. Travel reimbursement will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to attendees who are traveling more than 100 miles one-way.

Contact hours and CEU’s will be available. Please note that all attendees will be required to participate in pre and post evaluation and three to four hours of prework.

Refundable Training Deposit: $50

Please note that your deposit will be refunded to you upon your arrival and check-in at the conference. Payment of the deposit must be made by July 1 and will not be refunded should you cancel after July 15. This deposit is in place to help offset any last minute cancellations/changes. Please contact us if payment of the deposit presents a financial hardship.
