REGISTRATION IS NOW FULL, Please email programregistration@corsefoundation.org to be placed on the wait list

Programs are open to ALL SPS students, and are staffed appropriately so that children with special needs can successfully participate in them.

We are pleased to once again sponsor another cycle of integrated academic and social programs, as outlined in this brochure. For each program, we have identified highly qualified SPS staff and aide support to provide a low staff to student ratio (usually 1:3 for social groups and 1:4 for academic courses) to assure the quality of this programming for our students.

Circle of Friends AY 2020-21

Circle of Friends (Pre-school), begins Febuary 2nd,10 sessions

This program provides a small group setting for students to develop social thinking and language to enhance their play and conversational skills.  Through interactive play and small group activities, children build their skills in communicating, sharing and problem-solving. The optimal teacher-child ratio promotes opportunities for children to learn through structured play and facilitated conversations. Children will be encouraged to express themselves, both verbally and through art/journals. Children will practice identifying expected and unexpected behavior in groups by role playing and using puppets.  Some examples of expected behaviors that will be focused on during the session include; listening to others, taking turns and participating appropriately in group settings.  This class is geared toward 4-5 year olds; 3 year olds will be considered if space is available.

Primary Instructor(s):  Kim Sheehan (SPED Teacher)

 Time:   Tuesdays  3:15-4:15pm

Location/Fee: Wampatuck School, $80

Circle of Friends MUST follow SPS COVID guidelines and restrictions with lower maximum enrollments and assigned seating.  All activities will remain on-site and students must have the abilities to understand and follow directions and independently wear a mask for the duration of the program.

The CORSE Foundation (Community of Resources for Special Education) was established by a group of dedicated parents and educators to raise funds to provide high quality and affordable programming, training and resources that will benefit children with special needs, their parents and educators throughout South Shore Massachusetts.  CORSE has designed an innovative model within a blended framework of integrated and specialized social, academic, recreation, therapeutic and work skills development programs so children with special needs can reach their full potential.  Our variety of programs are staffed appropriately through customized staffing ratios and special education expertise so ALL children, those with and without special needs, can successfully participate together within their community.

For 2019, these programs have been generously supported by grant funding received from the Grace E. Brooks Trust, Evan Henry Foundation, Edwin Phillips Foundation, South Shore Playhouse Associates, Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation as well as our community fundraising supporters.
