21st Century Cures Act

Health Reimbursement Arrangement

1 CE credit Kansas and Missouri pending

On December 13, 2016 President Obama signed into law the 21st Century Cures Act which includes a provision allowing small businesses to reimburse individual health insurance premiums using a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA).

To learn more about this new law, register HERE or below. Thanks.

Presenter Mark Schmersahl, Vice President of BeneFLEX HR Resources, Inc. and Board of Directors for the Employer Council of Flexible Compensation (ECFC) will discuss the criteria required to qualify for the Small Employer HRA, features of the new plan, and how this new law may benefit you and your clients. This presentation will offer one hour of continuing education credit.

The new law provides an exception for small employers called a Qualified Small Employer HRA or QSEHRA as long as specific criteria is met. It does not repeal the ACA's general prohibition against employer payment of individual health premiums.

Agenda Overview:

  • The new law allows qualified small employers to help reimburse individual health insurance premiums and medical expenses pre-tax
  • Review Qualified Small Employer HRA regulations
  • Discuss how the Qualified Small Employer HRA compares with other compliant options
  • Compare the Qualified Small Employer HRA, One-Person HRA, and Stand-Alone HR to other pre-tax options
  • Taking advantage of the Qualified Small Employer HRA
  • FAQs for the Qualified Small Employer HRA
  • Unanswered questions regarding the Qualified Small Employer HRA
