Dominance & Marginalization in the Body: Exploring the Neurobiology of Stress and Trauma

This is a 2.0 hour session.

The current socio-political context beckons us towards learning new tools and building communities of practice where we can share, discuss, reflect and creatively confront the impact of historical, intergenerational, and contemporary trauma from systemic oppression and marginalization. We will focus on understanding the neurobiology of stress, trauma and safety, map our social identities focusing on where we have been marginalized and where we hold power and then build somatic/body awareness of how we hold oppression and dominance in our bodies. In understanding our individual body responses to oppression, trauma and dominance, we can increase our capacity for self-regulation and build resilience, not only in ourselves, but in those we serve.
