Student Legislative Advocacy Day is an all day event for New Mexico social work students. NASW-NM recognizes the need for social workers to get involved in the legislative process and to promote social justice for ourselves and others. SLAD offers social work students an opportunity to learn how to be a part of this process and apply this learning during the legislative session.

AGENDA:
9:30-10:00 am: Check in and registration
10:00– 10:45 am: Social Work Practice Act and Practicing within your Profession
10:45 – 11:30 am: Workforce Development
11:30 – 12:15 am: NM Legislative Session, Policy and What You Need to Know
12:15 – 12:45 pm: Eat lunch and get ready to march
12:45 - 1:00pm: March to the Capitol
1:00 – 3:45 pm: At the Roundhouse- Meet legislators and attend committee meetings
4:00-4:30pm: Return to St. Johns, Debrief and Closing
For those attending the NASW-NM conference, there wil be an early check in/social at 4:45 - 5:45pm on Wed., March 6 at Sandia Resort. Get your t-shirt, grab some pizza, and make your poster for the march!
