We work hard and there is always something to do right? This leaves self-care at the bottom of your "if I have time for it" list and often leads to burn out. This retreat will provide an opportunity for you to rest and renew and will include talks and interactive activities that stimulate your senses, calm your mind, and provide you with time to meet others who share your passion for this work.

Together we will learn about the human-nature connection and explore the therapeutic and healing potential of connecting to and appreciating nature and indigenous perspectives of healing and community. We will also get creative, and do some brief yoga that is suitable for everyone. You will be able to apply these principles to you AND the clients you serve.

Healthy fresh meals will complement the day and provide you with some new tools to elevate your practice. Join us for this lovely day on taking care of you and earn some CEU's while you're at it!

ABOUT THE SESSIONS & PRESENTERS:

Nature, Body Connection
In this fun, experiential workshop, we will explore ways to encourage the awareness and release of trauma held in the mind, body and spirit. We will notice and appreciate Nature, patterns in Nature, patterns in ourselves and ourselves as part of Nature. By reinforcing our positive connections within ourselves and to those around us, we will be able to strengthen our individual and community resiliency. We will also explore indigenous perspectives of healing and community. This workshop is open to all ability levels. Gentle movement and interactive activities are included. Dress in clothing and comfortable shoes to spend time outside.

Misty Blakesley is a Program Manager for the Mountain Center, working predominantly with Native American communities, survivors of trauma, folks in recovery and youth in the juvenile justice system. She encourages individuals and groups to heal and grow through exploring connection with both the inner and outer natural worlds. She studies with the Tracking Project, is a 500+hr yoga teacher, and is the head rock climbing instructor trainer at the Mountain Center. She did her thesis work at the Institute of American Indian Arts on tracking, mapping and humans’ connection to nature.
