2023 Verbal Judo for Conservation Districts - Bethlehem Session
This course is open to all Pennsylvania conservation district and DEP staff.

About the Course
Verbal JudoŽ is a tactical communications course originally designed for law enforcement officers, but has applications for anyone who regularly deals with the public. Drawing on his personal experiences, Mr. Freeman has specifically adapted thecourse for regulatory inspectors and other government enforcement personnel. Attendees will learn techniques to redirect handle emotionally-charged verbal attacks in order to generate voluntary compliance. Attendees will leave this course with improved verbal communication skills and enhanced professionalism.
About Our Instructor
Michael Freeman has worked with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for over 28 years. As a regulatory inspector in the Hazardous Waste program, he helped build thecriminal investigation program and became its first commissioned law enforcement officer. He held this position for almost 24 years before transferring to the Land Protection Division in 2022. He is a certified Verbal Judo instructor and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.Hotel Information
