Confirmation 2022
What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is an 8-month course (January to May and August to November) for students in grades 7 and up to explore what it means to be an active member of the United Methodist Church. Confirmation is a comprehensive program that includes classes, retreats, socials, field trips, mission projects, and special worship services.
We'll delve into theology: What do we as a church believe? Do I really agree with it? What happens if I don't agree?
We'll examine the history of the church: Where do we come from? What has the church done right over the years? What have we really messed up?
We'll learn that being a Christian is more than just showing up at church on Sundays (although we'll learn why that's important too!).
We'll serve together gathering food for All Community Outreach, serving lunch at the Austin Street Center, and assisting at several Creekwood events.
We'll attend worship as a group at other churches as well as our own. We'll attend a Jewish temple service, a Catholic mass, and an African-American United Methodist Church service.
Confirmation is an amazing year where students can honestly examine their own beliefs and decide for themselves whether they are ready to make the commitment to follow Christ.

I don't know this stuff either! How can I talk to my kid about it?
Parents are strongly encouraged to attend the Confirmation Companions Sunday School class that meets at the same time as the students' class. It's even meeting in the same building! (But not the same room; don't worry!)
The Confirmation Companions class will cover the same material as the student class AND you will form friendships with the parents of your child's friends.
When is Confirmation?
A mandatory meeting for both students and their parents will be held on January 9, 2022 at 9:45 in the Middle School Center.
Regular classes will meet each Sunday at 9:45-10:45 in the same location.

There is a $200 enrollment fee for retreats, events, supplies, etc. Please contact Donna with any concerns about finances. Cost is never a reason to miss this amazing year!
