Bluegrass is famous for its jams, but the basics of jamming are the same across many musical styles. This workshop is for:

•  folks who play any type of acoustic music
•  folks who play any acoustic instrument
•  folks who sing

who want to try jamming or to improve their jamming skills.

Andy will cover a variety of topics, including:

• jamming common sense & etiquette
• nervousness
• judging the jam
• practice techniques
• face-saving performance tips

There will be plenty of opportunities for group playing & singing. Bring your instruments, your voice, your questions, and your smile! (Max 30 participants.)

 

Andy has tought jamming and instrument workshops at the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Walnut Valley Festival ("Winfield"), MerleFest,  Augusta Heritage Center, and in schools in eight states as Artist-in-Residence. He's been jamming for nearly 50 years.

Andy and his band will perform at Courtney's from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. after the workshop. The evening's show will feature a "Join the Jam" spotlight, when workshop participants will be invited to join Andy onstage for a song or two. This concert is free and open to the public.
