EWGA Orlando January 2017 Event at Red Tail GC - Jan 22, 2017
Our EWGA Orlando January event is being played at the beautiful - RedTail Golf Club on Sunday, Jan 22 starting at 9:30am.
This months event is being held the weekend before The Highway Series event at Innisbrook where 34 members of our chapter will be competitors in a field of 200 playing Match Play. To help us prepare for Innisbrook the format for this months event will be a Match Play - singles -- just like we will play on January 28.
Unlike stroke play, in which the unit of scoring is the total number of strokes taken over 18 holes of golf, match play scoring consists of individual holes won, halved or lost. On each hole, the most that can be gained is one point. Golfers play as normal, counting the strokes taken on a given hole. We will figure everyone's course handicap and strokes will be given to the higher handicap player in each match. Hopefully we will keep the "strokes given" to a minimum. At the end of the round we will add up the total points for each match and the competitor with the most points won will be crowned the champion of their match.
During the round, if your foursome gets behind pace - meaning you can't see the group in front of you on a hole, then instead of playing the hole out - all players in your foursome will take the ball to approximately 50 yards from the center of the green and will determine the winner of the hole by chipping and putting. This should ensure that our group is able to finish the round timely.
If you do not want to play Match Play - you can still enjoy the beautiful course by playing casual golf. We just ask that if you hit your "ESC" or "max score" on a hole - you pick up and move on to the next hole. Again, this will help everyone keep proper pace of play
The cost for the event will be as follows: Members - Golf, range balls and lunch - $59 and guests will be just $10 more.
If you are playing match play, we will not be able to honor pairing requests - as i will be pairing competitors up with as close handicap as possible to minimize strokes given in the event. If you are playing casual golf and want to make pairing requests, i will do my best to honor them.
Registration will close on January 15 - and is limited to the first 48 players to register. All cancellations or changes must be received by midnight, January 15 - No exceptions.
