EWGA Orlando Sept Event - Celebration GC - Match Play - Ryder Cup Style
Our EWGA Orlando September event is being played at the beautiful - Celebration Golf Club on Sunday, Sept 25 starting at 9:00am. This years event at Celebration is going to be exciting as we have invited members from our neighboring EWGA chapters in Tampa, Polk County and Spacecoast to join us.
This months event is being held the weekend before the Ryder Cup - so we thought it would be fun to play a Match Play event - just like the "big boys" are playing the following week. The format will be a Match Play - team event - where teams of 8 will be put together and twosomes from each team will play against a twosome from another team.
We will play 9 holes fourball (best net of one team against best net of the other team in your foursome) and 9 holes will be played "alternating shot" - yes, i said "ALTERNATING SHOT". When playing alternating shot - each player in the foursome will tee off - and each team (twosome) will select the tee shot she wants to take for their teams tee shot. Then the person who "didnt" hit the tee shot will hit the next shot and the twosome will alternate hitting the ball until the ball is in the hole or the hole is conceeded by one of the two teams in your foursome.
Each hole will be worth 1 point - where the team that wins the hole will get a point, if the hole ends in a tie - then each twosome will get 1/2 point - and you get 0 points if you lose the hole. The twosome who wins each 9 (front or back) will get another point and the twosome who wins the match will get yet another point. There are 21 total possible points for each foursome (match) and 84 possible points for a team of 8 ladies (4 twosomes).
After each twosome on the team is finished - the points from all matches will be added together and the team with the most points from their twosomes will win the event.
The cost for the event will be as follows: Members - Golf, range balls and lunch - $59 and guests will be just $10 more.
You are free to request to be on a team with someone - but the final pairings will be done based on handicap's on a team. I will be trying to match up the players with players of similar handicaps so the matches will be played with similar handicap players. Therefore, you are free to request to be on a team with someone - but I will be putting the pairings together for the event.
Registration will close on Sept 18 - so register early. All cancellations or changes must be received by midnight, Sept 18 - No exceptions.
