Dakendo Michel was born in Léogâne, Haiti, and raised in Fort Myers.  He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated and is an alumnus of Florida Gulf Coast University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Social Work and graduated with high honors, earning him the rank of Magna Cum Laude. Dakendo is also currently pursuing his Masters at FGCU. While an undergraduate Dakendo served as a Youth Development & Empowerment Service Ambassador for the Office of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement. He was also a member of Student Support Services, Golden Key International Honor Society, and served as the Vice President for Phi Alpha Honor Society.

During his incredible undergraduate experience Dakendo earned over 1000 service-learning hours. "Having the opportunity to give back to the community, as well as being honored as the 2015 College of Health Professions and Social Work Student of the Year, are some of my best memories."

A few things Dakendo enjoys doing in his spare time include being with family, especially his daughter Lauryn, playing basketball, listening to music, reading, and mentoring. A fun fact about him is that he is 1 of 8 children, and 5 of them have earned undergraduate degrees.
