Nonprofits and Community Engagement

Workshop Details:
What is community engagement? If you’re a nonprofit, aren’t you engaged already? Not-for-profit organizations are, by definition, connected to the communities and stakeholders they serve. However, the question that frequently arises in both new and mature organizations is: "What does it mean to be truly ‘engaged’?"

This workshop will introduce participants to the concepts, tools and leadership steps necessary to build healthy community engagement. Work through a case study as the workshop participants take an actual initiative and develop an engagement plan.

Topics:

  • Ways to connect with stakeholders, clients, and the community.
  • Mobilizing sustainable support.
  • Connecting your resources to clients’ needs.
  • Recruiting others to advance your mission,
  • Building lasting relationships with the community.

Objectives:

  • Gain understanding of the importance of community engagement for not-for-profit organizations.
  • Build individual skills and knowledge in community engagement practices and techniques.
  • Link participants with resources for engagement.
