“Get Your Hero On” The McHenry County Human Race is a unique 5K that supports charities serving McHenry County IL. Every race participant designates which organization will receive the proceeds of their race fee. Organizations that join also have a chance at winning cash prizes for their organization.

Cash Prizes - Volunteer Center provides a total of $2,400 in cash prizes to participating charities Invite others to the race - help win charities these prizes:

• MCHENRY COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARD $600! Second prize $250 – Charity with most race participants
• To be named soon! $400: To the top fundraising organization 
• To be named soon! $400: The top fundraising individual will choose which the organization will receive the $400.00
• Social Media Award $200: For charities only, this winner is based on social media activity
• "RACE DAY" PICTURE $200: The winning individual chooses which charity will win the prize money. (charities cannot submit)
• BEST-DRESSED HERO AT PACKET PICK-UP $150: The winning individual chooses which charity will win the prize money.
• CHARITY CREATIVE RACE DAY PICTURE OF HEROES $100:  Only charities can submit for this prize
• $100 BIGGEST TEAM: The Team (Not led by a charity) will choose which charity receives this award money

*Charities must be registered before April 1, 2016 in order to qualify for a prize. Charities are only able to win one main prize each year.

Are you signing up for a race day booth?
Participating organizations may reserve a booth. There is no cost; booth space is limited so make sure to reserve a spot. Booths must be set up on race day no later than 6:15 AM. Public access to booths begins at 6:30. Reservations for booths must be made by March 15. 
Organizations sometimes choose to sell items on race day. This can only be done within your assigned booth area. Please do not have individuals selling items while walking through the crowd. Any food to be sold must be approved by the Volunteer Center prior to race day.  

How do the fundraising percentages work?
Each time an individual chooses your organization to support in the race 50% of their registration fee goes to your organization. The other 50% will be used to pay for expenses and to support volunteerism in McHenry County. When someone donates to your organization 100% goes to your organization!

How does fundraising work? We changed it up this year! Charities will be collecting their fundraising dollars without the money going through the Volunteer Center. Now charities can send thank yous out immediately according to your own policies. Each charity will be invited to create their own fundraising page. Volunteer Center will help make sure it is easy for you! You will receive information once your charity is signed up. Offline line donations will be collected and thanked by Volunteer Center. Charities will receive that income in June with the race registration income. 

How are donors thanked? Dollars given directly to the Volunteer Center for your charity will be given a thank you letter within 5 days of the donation.  Online donors will be thanked directly from your charity according to your organization's policy.
