2019 Summer BVI Flotilla (ASA Flotilla)

June 13-23, 2019

Come discover why they call them Nature's Little Secrets!  The stunning 55+ islands and cays that comprise the British Virgin Islands have two fantastic assets - accessibility and virgin beauty. Known for years as a "sailor's paradise," an adventure at sea is in store whether you’re a first-time sailor or an experienced captain thanks to consistent trade winds, clear water, and sunshine every day. Join us as we island hop and find a new cove each day.

Captain Lucy Newman, the flotilla leader, has made this trip over a dozen times and has a vast knowledge of the local sites, eats, and activities available! You're sure to have a blast!

Tortola, the largest island and seat of government in this mountainous archipelago of gem-like isles.  Virgin Gorda, Ginger Island, Cooper Island, Salt Island, Peter Island and Norman Island lie to the south of Tortola just a short hop across the Sir Francis Drake Channel.  Jost van Dyke (pronouned "Yost"), home of the original and famous BVI drink, the painkiller, lies to the northwest of Tortola.  Dozens of smaller islands, some with resorts and some uninhabited, lie scattered throughout the region.  While most are volcanic in  origin, Angegada is the only coral atoll and lies approximately 29 kilometers northeast of Tortola.  From protected anchorages with quiet palm-fringed coves to spiraling sheer rock faces that plunge to the ocean are just a few of the contrasts that make the area so stunning.

The vegetation can be dramatically different from island to island due to rainfall, soil, and sun.  Lusher areas support palm and tropical fruit trees including banana, mango, and key lime, as well as flowering hibiscus and bougainvillea.  By contrast, a short hike up many hills will reveal varieties of cactus, wild tamarind, and fragrant frangipani.

The surrounding waters showcase liquid blues ranging from deep cobalt, to bright cerulean, to ethereal aquamarine in the shallows.  The diverse and fascinating environment makes this island chain particularly appealing to divers, boaters, hikers, and those that just want to relax in a soft rope hammock ovelooking a white sand beach.

We have already reserved several boats for this island-hopping adventure. Reservations are available for singles, couples, or if you are a qualified skipper, you may put your own group together.

Charter fees, flotilla fees, mooring fees, National Park fees, cruising permits, VISA fees, goodie bags, Welcome Reception Pizza Party, Group Dinner at the Captain's Table, beach party, "easy-on-the-cook" provisioning (including 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and snacks), water, fuel, charter insurance, dinghy with motor, linens, 2 nights hotel, and 8 nights aboard your sailing vessel, gratuity for the charter base staff, and and plenty of fun are included in your flotilla package.  Airfare, meals ashore, alcoholic beverages, airport/hotel taxi transfers, BVI departure tax, souvenirs, and personal incidentals are not included.

Prices range from $2000-2500 per person depending upon which vessel you choose.  They are based on double occupancy both on the boat and in the hotel. A $500 non-refundable deposit per person due immediately for priority boat and cabin preference!
