The Rum Races are here!

 

This race series, sponsored by Cruzan Rum and the Galveston Bay Cruising Association, is an informal, fun racing series designed to expand the sailing community in South Texas, afford sailors an opportunity to practice and improve sailing skills, and provide a friendly competition for area sailors. The series begins in June and runs through early September and will include 3 racing seminars provided by GBCA throughout the summer.

The Rum Races are a pursuit style, fixed mark, 11-nautical mile course around Galveston Bay. Start times are determined by each boat's PHRF rating. (No boat entry fees are required by GBCA, but membership* in GBCA is kindly requested to participate in racing seminars and post-race awards at the GBCA Club house, which include a Cruzan Rum celebration.)

Race #1 - Sat. June 3

Race #2 - Sat. June 17

Race #3 - Sat. July 1

Race #4 - Sat. July 8

Race #5 - Sat. July 22

Race #6 - Sat. August 12

Race #7 - Sat. August 26

Race #8 - Sat. September 9

Pricing: 

Club Members: $60; Public: $80

Recieve a 5% discount for registering for multiple races.

Schedule:

3:30 pm - Arrive at SCSA for skipper and crew briefing

3:45pm - Depart dock for race starting point

4:30 pm-5:20 pm - Race start time depending on PHRF rating

8:00 pm-9:00 pm - Approximate return to the dock, clean and secure boat
