2017 Harvest Moon Regatta 

The event once dubbed "A Howling Good Time" by Cruising World is back!  Founded in 1987, the annual Harvest Moon Regatta event has grown from just under 20 boats to over 200!

This year due to Hurricane Harvey the Harvest Moon Regatta will be an offshore race in the Gulf of Mexico starting from the Galveston Pleasure Pier beginning at 2:00 p.m., October 5, 2017, but this year we will finish the race in the Galveston area. There will be distance races appropriate for both cruising boats and racing boats. The awards presentation, Bacardi Rum party, live band, dinner, and the HMR Port Aransas Recovery Fund presentations will occur on Saturday, October 7, 2017 and will be held in the South Pavilion area at Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, Texas. In support of the Hurricane Harvey/HMR Port Aransas Recovery Fund, Judy’s Mission® ovarian cancer foundation asks, instead of making additional donations to Sail-a-Thon™ 2017, that you make your donations to the Hurricane Harvey/HMR Port Aransas Recovery Fund;

Everyone is invited to participate as a crew member; however we are also offering ASA 106 (Advanced Coastal Cruising) during this event.*

*All prerequisites for ASA courses must be completed prior to departure. *ASA 101, 103, 104, and 105 required for ASA 106

Schedule of Events

Wednesday, 10/4: Check-in at SCSA; pre-boarding & provisioning; depart for Galveston

Wednesday, 10/4: Overnight stay at Galveston Yacht Basin

Thursday, 10/5 at 2:00 pm: Race begins

Saturday, 10/7 at 1:00 pm: Finish deadline (sail to Kemah after completing the race)

Saturday, 10/7 at 4:30: Welcome Sailor Rum Party, BBQ, Awards at Lakewood Yacht Club
