We ask for your patience and understanding when we request that you register for the re-scheduled Assembly meeting for Tuesday, March 19th in order to prepare our meeting space and sufficient meals.  Indicate whether you wish to reserve a sack lunch.  If you have already paid for an assembly meal, but do not want one for this date, note when you register that you are due a refund.

Dear Friends,

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus the Christ!  I pray this communication finds you well and I give thanks for your continued service to our Risen Lord. I give thanks also for your patience in all that we have had to manage with the weather and now two postponed Assembly Meetings.  We are set now for March 19th at 9:30 a.m. EDT (please note the earlier than normal time) for the PWV Assembly to gather for the first meeting of 2013.

Due to the delays and our current meeting time overlapping the date for Council’s meeting we have reworked the docket yet again and are limiting our agenda to only our most pressing matters.  Decisions on the Constitutional Amendments and other matters will be moved to the May Assembly Meeting.  It is our goal to conclude the meeting by 12:30 p.m. at which time sack lunches will be available for those who wish to partake.  You may stay and eat or begin the journey home as you discern for yourselves.  Council will then meet beginning at 12:45 p.m. I hope as many of you as are safely able, will be there to engage these important tasks in our collective ministry.

Some of the items that will be before us at this Assembly Meeting are:

  • Hearing from the Visioning Ministry Team about the Transformation Process PWV will be engaging as a result of the direction of the Assembly at its November meeting
  • Hearing from Rebecca Kirkpatrick and Joshua Yoder about their upcoming work as Mission Co-Workers in the Middle East.
  • Examining an Inquirer under the care of PWV for the move to Candidacy
  • Hearing and acting on a report from the Nominating Committee

With postponements and subsequent amendments to the docket we will do our best to honor our procedure for distribution of documents for Assemblies and be sure to get any additional information out to the assembly as soon as possible.

I pray God’s blessings to be upon each of you and look forward to our being together on March 19th.

Grace and peace,

Kevin A. Bowers, Moderator

Bethany Presbyterian Church, Lafayette

  • Please register to allow preparations by our staff.  It is important to register each ruling elder commissioner, teaching elder and guest separately in order for the registration and payment to record correctly.  If you are unable to attend, you may request to be excused through the "I can't come" link in the email.
  • Please download and save the documents listed in the left column in advance of our meeting, just in case Geneva Center internet access is overloaded.  If you have already downloaded, you will be able to sort in advance to match the docket, and to refer to documents during the meeting stored on your laptop.

More Information about documents for the Assembly and the program we are using to send reminders and distribute documents:

  • This page is a dedicated webpage for the documents for this Assembly.   You may BOOKMARK it to download your documents later, if you wish.
  • To alleviate the challenge of finding various documents in various emails, there will be no attachments to the email notices.  There will be a link to this page where you will find all documents for this meeting.
  • Additional documents are added as they are available from various commissions, teams, committees and officers.  They are coded to match the docket.  If you download into a folder on your computer, you can sort before printing to get them into the correct order, or for easier access on your computer without having to print.
  • It is not possible to send all documents at once because (1) they trickle in and (2) a bulk attachment is larger than many email systems can or will handle; and (3) one packet would also be too large for many printers to process.
  • When you arrive for the Assembly, please confirm your attendance at the "registration" table.
  • We read your comments on how to improve these processes.  Keep your suggestions coming.
