In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the National Capital Environmental Non-Profit Network (NCENN), we have invited Ken Wyman to return to Ottawa to share his key fundraising
teachings with local non-profits. Ken joined us at our first ever capacity-building event in fall
2008 so it’s only fitting that he should join us again on this special occasion!

corporations; local businesses; employee funds; foundations; government; unions; service
clubs; and others. Canadian corporations give millions annually, but 70% of it comes from just
seven industries. Ken will help you determine who to approach and how.
FACE TO FACE WITH MAJOR INDIVIDUAL DONORS
How can you connect with those fabulous people who give charities big donations? These
individuals contribute far more than corporations or foundations, yet many non-profit groups
don’t know how to reach them properly. This can be productive fundraising, particularly in the
short term. Individuals can respond quickly, with no bureaucratic grant-approval process.

About Ken Wyman
Ken is a professor and served as Program Coordinator of the Humber College post-grad Fundraising Management Program for 12 years (see www.Humber.ca/Fundraising).
He helps groups develop the skills for long-term self-sufficiency. Ken has been called "one of the best-known and most-respected professional consultants in the fundraising field." For more than 35 years Ken has invented and adapted techniques to help non-profit groups learn the secrets of growth.
Hundreds of nonprofit organizations have hired Ken. Ranging in size from kitchen-table grassroots groups to giant multinational charities, they come from almost every field: environment, health, social service, arts & culture, sports, religion, progressive politics, and women's issues. He has helped them raise millions of dollars.Ken has helped groups from the Arctic Circle to Texas, Cuba and Sweden. He has been one of the top-rated speakers at the International Fundraising Workshop in Holland, and has also addressed the Institute of Charitable Fund Managers in England, and many chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, among others. He has also toured Canada giving training sessions for The Sustainability Network.
Ken was the host and creative consultant of the educational TVO series "The Fund Raising
Game."

Ken was named the first ever Outstanding Fund Raiser by his peers by the Association of
Fundraising Professionals Greater Toronto Chapter.
In 1984 Ken became a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) based on years of service,
rigorous examination, and regular re-certification.
Before becoming a consultant, Ken spent five years as National Co-ordinator of Fund Raising
and Publicity for OXFAM-Canada, the third world development agency. He helped reverse their
seven-year decline in income, tripling public donations to $1.2 million a year.
Earlier, as a journalist and photographer, Ken filed news and human interest stories from across
Canada, Europe, South America and the Middle East. He has written for The Globe and Mail,
The Toronto Star, The Financial Post, Morningside, As It Happens, and CBC National News,
among others.
