Join the National Capital Environmental Non-profit Network (NCENN) for our next networking gathering:

Friday, January 22nd, 2016
1:30-3:30 at the West End Well

Theme: Winter ENGO Roundtable

Come and learn about what Ottawa environmental groups are up to this fall and bring your organizational updates!

Highlights of this meeting will be updates from:

Just Food

Just Food is a grassroots, non-profit organization that includes staff, volunteers, community partners, members and funders. Just Food's mission is to work towards vibrant, just, and sustainable food and farming systems in the Ottawa region.

Carbon613 - Katrina Kroeze & Erika Mayer

EnviroCentre’s Carbon 613  is a new target-based sustainability program for businesses called that launched in September 2015. The program is creating a network of businesses in Ottawa that are addressing sustainability through measuring their operational carbon footprint and setting target reductions, all while being supported by the program with the tools and resources needed to succeed.

Capital VeloFest - Dick Louch

Capital Vélo Fest is an non-profit organization with the mission to "Inspire People of All Ages to Ride a Bike More Often".  We partner with cycling positive organizations to develop programs that encourage people to ride bikes, using education and fun as persuasive forces.  Our plans for 2016 include Ottawa's Tour La Nuit, neighbourhood adventure rides, bike rodeos and SMOOCH, our bicycle powered smoothie machine.

Ecology Ottawa - Graham Saul

Ecology Ottawa is a not-for-profit, grassroots and volunteer-driven organisation that works to make Ottawa the green capital of Canada. Graham will be presenting an outline of Ecology Ottawa's strategic priorities for the purposes of collaboration and input.

Safe Wings Ottawa - Anouk Hoedeman, Coordinator

Safe Wings Ottawa is an initiative of the Ottawa Field-Naturalists’ Club to reduce bird mortality from window collisions through rescue, research and education. Our mission is to learn more about the extent of the problem in Ottawa, to raise awareness about the causes of window strikes, and to encourage solutions for making glass visible to birds.

Organizations that would like to reserve some presentation time with a powerpoint/screen can e-mail programs.seo@gmail.com in advance.  Otherwise, please come to the meeting with your verbal updates and any materials to share.  An environmental scan of key eco events and other opportunities to note will also be featured.

We will also have updated copies of the NCENN Capacity-Building Directory that has recently been updated and new information on the Sustainable Capacity Centre.
