The majority of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Girls on the Run Northeast Wisconsin (GOTRNEW). GOTRNEW has a positive youth development program that combines training for a 5k with an interactive curriculum to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyle in pre-teen girls in grades 3rd through 8th. The 20 lesson curriculum which meets twice a week for 10 weeks in small teams of 8-15 girls, is delivered by certified Girls on the Run Coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large. Using the copyrighted Girls on the Run curriculum we focus on 1 topic per lesson and incorporate that topic throughout our whole warm up and work out.  Coach led discussions require girls to identify their values, learn how work together, and connect with the community at large.  Running (or walking) is incorporated throughout the lesson so that by the end of 10 weeks the girls are able to participate in a celebratory 5k event.

For grades 6-8 the curriculum allows for more mature processing around certain topics including eating disorders, internet safety, relationships, cyber-bullying and tobacco and alcohol use. The girls discuss these subjects on an in-depth level and use their personal experiences to shape thought-provoking discussion. The Girls on Track curriculum provides girls with the skills to shut out the noise of the external world that is attempting to limit who she is and to instead listen to her individual truth – the one that will lead her toward an enriching and contented life.

GOTRNEW was founded April 2012 in Neenah, WI.

The mission of our local Mid-Day Women's Alliance is to educate and inspire action on issues affecting women’s lives and workplaces, raise monies to help organizations focused on women’s issues forward their causes and heighten awareness throughout the community, and create a safe place where relationships are formed and collectively we stand up for the advancement of all women.

We would also like to extend an invitation to you and others from your organization to join us at the golf outing.  It is a terrific day of fun and good golfing.
