Keeping Kids Safe - 3/28/18

Presenter: Melanie Morong, YWCA Coordinator Prevention Education

The safety of children is a major concern of child care providers today.  Providers have concerns about keeping children safe from abuse and neglect. The Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault states that, ‘1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys will be sexually assaulted before they reach the age of 18.  Of those, over 85% will be assaulted by someone they know and trust.’ A Prevention Educator from the YWCA Sexual Violence and Support Services will address these concerns by providing information about the following; Reduction of vulnerability, clues to possible victimization, responding to a troubled child, identification of a possible offender and overview of Mandated Reporting.

Targeted Audience: All Early Childhood & Youth Professionals

Level of  Learning: Intermediate
