A Master Class with Aerialist and Modern Dancer Katherine Richardson 

A class in Fall and Release Technique. A transitional skill needed for ALL dancers young and old. A movement practice that focuses on breathing, skeletal alignment, joint articulation, muscle relaxation, and the use of gravity and momentum to facilitate efficient movement.The objective of the class will be to ascend and descend to the floor with ease, emphasizing importance in those in-between transitional moments which connect movement together to create a phrase.  A discussion on dancer body image will round out the workshop. Age 9&up

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Katherine Richardson is a graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. She has worked in various cities including but not limited to: Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. Katherine has an extensive background in dance and event entertainment worldwide. In Vegas she performed in the Blue Man Group as their first female character, the Showbot (created by Show Creators Inc.) at the Monte Carlo Casino.

As an instructor and choreographer, Katherine has taught workshops and classes in various forms of dance both nationally and intermationally for various universities and other institutions.

After spending four years as a dancer and aerialist for Royal Caribbean Productions Katherine is now working on the other side as an aerial trainer and show installer for Royal Caribbean.  She also currently tours internationally as an aerialist for Australia's Strange Fruit repertory company. She specializes in lyra, two point harness, bungees, silks, sway pole and various specialized apparatus.
