Speaker

Abbot Rooney was the eighth Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation.     He was born on 20 Sept 1937, professed solemn vows 2 September 1958 and     was ordained to the priesthood on 21 September 1963.  He was elected Abbot     of Conception Abbey on 14 April 1993, was blessed 10 May 1993, was elected       Abbot Primate and Abbot of Sant’Anselmo on 18 September 1996 and              resigned on 3 September 2000.

Most recently he has taught at The College of St. Mary Magdalen (now Northeast Catholic College) in Warner, New Hampshire.

He taught for many years at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Liturgy at Sant’Anselmo in Rome, Italy.  He has consulted on the liturgy to St. John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

In May 2011 Abbot Rooney established the Saint Gregory Institute of Pastoral Liturgy, Music, and Art on the site of the Durward’s Glen Retreat Center in the Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin, at the invitation of Bishop Robert Morlino. The institute has offered workshops, retreats and online education.

Room assignments and meal counts must be confirmed by August 19th.

Mt. St. Francis
Room reservations at Mt. St. Francis are made through the Pastoral Services Office on a first-come/first served basis. There are 34 rooms, which can serve as doubles; four of these have a shared bath. There are 4 rooms which can serve as triples.  Rooms at Mt. St. Francis are $65.00 per night for a single; $75.00 for a double; $85.00 for a triple.  As below, your CFEC account will be charged.  

Hampton Inn
A block of 20 rooms at the Hampton Inn off of I-25 and Woodmen in Colorado Springs at the conference price of $74 per night have been reserved. Please feel free to call John Chavez at the Pastoral Center (719) 544-9861 x. 1144) to ask for further information.

The deadline for making your room reservation at the Hampton Inn is AUGUST 19, 2016.  Please reserve only the days you will be staying. You will be responsible for paying for all the days you reserve.   At the end of the retreat, you can submit your request for reimbursement from your CFEC account  ($400/annum).

Each clergy member will be billed on their CFEC account for their room depending on the accommodations you choose.  All other costs of the retreat are covered by your Clergy Assembly dues and the Continuing Education Budget for Clergy.
