Darrell Metcalf - Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of San Rafael
Darrell Metcalf is a member of the Bahá’í Faith and lives in San Anselmo with his wife Dayna Quick, who is a Geography professor at College of Marin. Darrell is an entrepreneur and inventor, having worked with patents and inventing for over twenty years. He has over ten U.S. Patents in the fields of wearable technology, 360° 2D and 3D display systems for large audiences, water and energy conserving products, and emissions reduction. He also have a love for music, playing piano, guitar, singing and composing, and working as a consultant for Yamaha Music Corporation. He has served as a Vice President of California Central Coast World Trade Center, and as a Board Member of Full-Circle Learning, a nonprofit providing Integrated Education programs to at-risk youth.
Lama Palden Drolma is the founder and spiritual director of Sukhasiddhi Foundation, a center for the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism founded in 1996, with a center in Fairfax, California. Lama Palden completed the traditional Tibetan Buddhist three-year retreat in the Shangpa and Karma Kagyu lineages in 1985, becoming in 1986 one of the first Western women to be authorized as a lama in the Vajrayana (Tibetan Buddhism) tradition. In addition to Kalu Rinpoche, she has studied with many of the great Tibetan masters from all lineages, including the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, Tai Situ Rinpoche, Bokar Rinpoche, Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, Dezhung Rinpoche, Dudjomm Rinpoche and the Dalai Lama. Lama Palden was profiled in Shambhala Sun magazine as one of the women “changing the face of Buddhism.”
