Beacon Academy Third Annual Scholarship Golf and Tennis Tournament

Make a year at Beacon Academy possible for one of our wonderful students from the Class of 2016. Join us on Monday, October 19 for a round of golf or a tennis round robin at Brae Burn Country Club!

In addition to being a fun day on the course or the courts, this event offers an important social experience for our students. Pam Dickinson, our Board Chair, arranges each year for the current class to learn some golf basics at First Tee. Joining players for a few holes or matches and then dinner at the club house prepares them for social situations they will encounter in independent high school, college and beyond.

This Scholarship Tournament is a great venue to introduce new people to Beacon and have fun putting (or showing off your killer backhand), all while raising a scholarship to support one of our 22 students this year.

Thanks to our tournament sponsor, Walmart, we are off to a great start!

If you have any questions or are interested in sponsorship information, please contact Alyssa Kichula at 617-423-2266 or akichula@beaconacademy.org.

About Beacon
Beacon Academy is a 14-month school between 8th and 9th grades designed to prepare motivated and promising urban students for success in competitive independent high schools and beyond. It is the first school of its kind in the country.

Exceeding all expectations in rigorous academics, cultural fluency, and social confidence, our kids work harder than they ever have in their young lives. Hailing primarily from Dorchester, Roxbury, Hyde Park and Mattapan, they overcome the multiple challenges of growing up in adversity to change the trajectory of their lives. Our students earn full scholarships to top independent high schools, including Belmont Hill School, Brimmer and May School, Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, Commonwealth School, Concord Academy, Dana Hall School, Milton Academy, Noble and Greenough School and many others. Almost all go to colleges like Bowdoin College, Boston University, Connecticut College, Emmanuel College, George Washington University, Skidmore College, Smith College, Tufts University, University of Massachusetts and Vassar College, among others. Collectively our graduates have earned $38 million in scholarship funding for secondary school and college.
