February 10th, 2015 - Beacon Academy SoulCycle Benefit Ride
Make good on those new year's fitness resolutions and support a great cause! Join hosts Debbie Nachlis, Lisa DiAdamo, Pam Dickinson, Jen Dolins, Georgia Feldman, Lisa Gross, and Jessica Lutzker at SoulCycle CNHL for an indoor cycling/cardio party to help slingshot Beacon Academy's students to DC! The ride is great for newcomers and advanced riders alike.
Thanks to a generous underwriter, all proceeds will go directly to our students' four-day immersion with the Close Up Foundation in Washington, DC.
Students often enter Beacon Academy with little knowledge of government or civics, and the experience with Close Up prepares them for a lifetime of civic engagement and participation. The intensive Close Up curriculum weaves debate, discussion, and leadership training into visits to Capitol Hill, The Smithsonian Museum of American History, The Holocaust Museum, the National Mall, and more. Beacon alumni report that the powerful days they spend in DC with Close Up impact the decisions they make in high school and college, as well as their visions of their own futures as responsible citizens.
Beacon Academy, an extra year of school between 8th and 9th grades, prepares smart, hard-working, and kind urban students for success in independent high schools.
