2021 FAUSA Annual Meeting and Getaway

After over a year of being online, the FAUSA Getaway is returning. We are BRINGING IT HOME to Cincinnati, Ohio, October 21-24 at the Hilton Netherland Plaza Hotel. We have planned three days of safe, fun and rewarding activities for you. If you cannot attend in person, we hope you will join us online.

EVENT INFORMATION:

The theme of the Getaway, “Bringing It Home” corresponds with our current Virtual Road Trip around the United States and the finish line at President Rick Chizmadia's home in Cincinnati. Bring your walking shoes as we will be getting plenty of exercise keeping FAUSA in Motion.

Our tentative schedule kicks off on Thursday with a meeting of the old and new board members and counselors. That evening we will hold a welcome reception for the attendees to meet and socialize.

We are still working on Friday’s agenda, but we have tentative plans to take the free street car to tour Rookwood Pottery, a walking Underground Cincinnati Tour of the tunnels, as well as seeing the historic buildings in the Over the Rhine area and a tour of the historic 1888 Music Hall. We certainly won’t go hungry with a stop for the famous Graeters Ice Cream and lunch at one of Cincinnati’s famous beer halls. That evening we will all gather at the Metropolitan Club across the river and have dinner with a view of Cincinnati and the historic Roebling Suspension Bridge.

On Saturday the Annual Meeting will be a blended meeting, both in-person or virtual. We are asking that only fully vaccinated members attend the Getaway. By offering a blended meeting, it will give all members who cannot attend for one reason or another to participate. The silent auction will once again run online for a week prior to the conference weekend, and everyone in FAUSA and FAWCO will be able to participate.

Single FAUSA Member Getaway: $350.00

Couple FAUSA Members Getaway: $700.00

Guest Getaway (non-member spouse or other family member): $375.00

Single Non-member: $375.00

Online Annual Meeting and Auction registrant: $15.00

The Getaway Registration fee includes three dinners and one lunch.

HOTEL INFORMATION:

The room rate at the Netherland Plaza is a very attractive $155 per night single or double rate. If you plan to attend the Getaway, book your room ASAP by calling (513) 421 9100 and mentioning FAUSA. Because these are uncharted times we have a small room block which can be expanded during August if we need more rooms.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

In light of the COVID related circumstances for the 2021 Getaway, the FAUSA board has decided to issue an amended cancellation policy. If FAUSA determines that for the safety and health of our members we need to cancel the conference, all registration fees will be refunded in full.

Otherwise, once a member has paid Getaway Fees, refunds may be issued as follows:

1. Refund requests made in writing more than 30 days prior to the Getaway will be refunded in full, minus the credit card fees.
2. Refund requests made in writing less than 30 days prior to the Getaway will be refunded minus a 15% cancellation fee in addition to any fees committed on behalf of the registrant that FAUSA is unable to recoup. Such refunds, however, may not be processed until after the event and prior tot he completion of the final accounting.
3. No refunds will be made after October 11, 2021.
4. In the event of special circumstances such as serious health issues, the Board has the right to make exceptions to this policy. In the event that such refunds would cause the conference to post a loss based on the Getaway budget, the Board has the discretion to either deny the refund in full, or pro-rate said refund.

The refunds outlined in this policy are only for the Getaway fees, and do not extend to other obligations made such as accommodations and/or tours. This shall remain the liability of the member in accordance witht he terms of the contracting parties.

COVID POLICY:

FAUSA - related groups meeting in person, including the 2021 Annual Meeting and Getaway, must be in compliance witht the most recent CDC guidelines for gatherings and with the guidelines relevant to Cincinnati. Attendees at the 2021 Getaway are required to be fully vaccinated, and masks must be worn in compliance with local, state and national guidelines.

Members who meet in person under any other circumstances do so personally and not in association with FAUSA. FAUSA accepts no liability for in-person meetings, even within the guidelines, and members who meet in person do so at their own risk.
