 Engaged and Informed:

The Keys to Successful Landlord Engagement and Eviction Prevention in Rural Communities - Helena, MT

Collaborative Solutions, CSH, the Montana Department of Commerce, and The Road Home would like to welcome your participation in a free three-part training series addressing landlord engagement and eviction prevention when working with vulnerable rural populations with the goal of long-term safe and stable housing.

Engaged and Informed is a three-part training series that includes two webinars and a one-day in-person workshop. The webinars will be held from 1:00-2:30 pm on September 15 and September 22, and the onsite workshop will be held October 4.

This training opportunity is for housing providers, faith community volunteers, mental health providers, supportive service practitioners, social service staff, and advocates working to increase housing opportunities for people experiencing homelessness in Montana. This is an opportunity to come together to address the ongoing need for collaborative relationships with landlords and improve access to safe, stable, and affordable homes in rural communities.

More Information

This is a free training series. Registration will be open to 50 participants per event. Please register soon to guarantee your spot. All trainings will be provided by The Road Home. Lunch will be provided at the onsite workshop.

The webinars will lay the foundation for the in-person workshop, where attendees will have the opportunity to interact with experts and get real-time feedback to enhance their skills. We strongly encourage participants to attend both webinars prior to the onsite workshop. If participants can’t attend the live webinars, recordings will be made available on the Housing Division’s website and should be viewed prior to the in-person workshop to maximize the onsite experience.

Webinar Description

Webinar 1: How to Make the Sell (September 15, 2016) Join us to discuss how people who are engaging and recruiting landlords efectively approach the conversation and increase the likelihood that a landlord says yes. Participants will hear about The Road Home's successful efforts as well as examples from other communities. This will be a great primer for the onsite workshop in which participants will practice their new skills and receive feedback from experts.

Webinar 2: Creative Solutions to Barriers (September 22, 2016) Join us to learn about creative solutions to barriers that have been tested and proven effective in Salt Lake County and communities similar to those in Montana. Learn about the benefits of mitigation funds, Housing Navigator roles, tax incentives, and other ideas that have led to an increase in landlords, and therefore an increase in housing opportunities for people experiencing homelessness.
