YMG Officer Elections!

It's Spring, time to infuse the YMG with new faces and new ideas. We will be electing officers for the 2014-2015 year (brief descriptions below) and are looking for leaders to help mentor our young engineers. Do any of these officer positions sound interesting to you? Or do you know someone that is looking for a great way to interact in the engineering community? If so, please send an email to Sara Somsky (sjsomsky@terracon.com) your name and positions you are considering. Free apetizers and 2 free drinks will be provided!

2014-2015 Officer Positions

President: Mike Winckler (current VP, position not open for election)

Vice-President (1 position): Help President and officers coordinate events, meetings, etc. Two year commitment.

Treasurer (1 position): Track financials, maintain YMG budget, coordinate with KC Section on reimbursements.

Communications Chair (1 position): Keep websites (ASCE YMG and Golf Tournament) up-to-date, post events on Facebook page, create/update events in Constant Contact.

Membership Chair (1 position): Recruit new ASCE YMG members, help other officers recruit volunters for events/activities, interact with engineering community.

Community Service Chair (up to 2 positions): Coordinate community service events, e.g. highway clean up(required), Christmas in October, Special Olymipcs, Harvesters, Toys for Tots drive, etc.

Social Chair (up to 2 positions): Coordinate monthly meetings (determine location, reserve space). Coordinate other social activities, e.g. Mavericks Night, Sporting KC tailgate/game, Royals Night, etc.

School Outreach (up to 2 positions): Interact with local schools and students to promote STEM.

Professional Development (up to 2 positions): Coordinate up to 4 educational events, e.g. tours, speakers, etc.

Golf Tournament Coordinator (up to 2 positions): Shadow the current golf tournament coordinator (Autumn Schleicher) during the 2013 Charity Golf Tournament preparation and event. Coordinate the 2014 Charity Golf Tournament.
