First Line Supervision Course

About the Course:

This POST approved course is designed to provide a basic foundation and principles in effective
supervision to current supervisors or those preparing for the supervisory role.  Participants will be
exposed to a variety of leadership and human performance concepts and this is a comprehensive
40-hour course that is open to public safety professionals from law enforcement, EMS, communications
or corrections.  Civilian support personnel are also encouraged to attend.  Comprehensive training
modules will expose participants to a variety of subjects related to organizational leadership, supervision
and improving performance.

About the Instructor:

Mr. Colin Comer, MS has worked in law enforcement at local, state, and federal levels, since 1979;
working within nearly every capacity in the profession. He has been an adjunct instructor of Criminal
Justice at Columbia College since 2004 and previously served as the training director for the
Central Missouri Institute for Public Safety at the University of Central Missouri.  Mr. Comer has been
involved in police officer professional development for most of his career and has served as
a police consultant since 2001.  He has trained hundreds of police officers and military
service members in both basic and advanced courses of study.  Mr. Comer possesses a Master’s
Degree in Criminal Justice.

Course Fees:
The early bird course fee is $550.00 per person until June 24, 2019.  After June 24, 2019, the cost increases to $600.00 per person.This course must have a minimum enrollment of 12 people in order for it to be held.

This course is hosted by the Missouri Safety Center, Midwest Police Consultants, and the Willow Springs Police Department.
